Week 17 -- 1st Area -- 2nd Companion -- Hesperia, CA

September 29, 2014

This last week was pretty good, we were able to get in with most of the people we wanted to. We set a baptismal date with the Hall family!!!! We set it for the 18th of October but we are going to have push it back because they didn't come to church.  Steve was the one who got baptized.  He is doing awesome.  He got confirmed (a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) and recieved the priesthood the same day.  He is going to baptize one of the Sister Miisionaries' investigators.  I went on exchanges this week and it was really good.  I worked in the Green Tree Ward with Elder Shelton who is a super awesome missionary.  He worked me really hard.  I was super tired after the exchange.  Things are going super good in our area!  We are now having to find new investigators and it's super hard.  It's the last week of the transfer which is super crazy.  This transfer went by way too fast.  It's been a super good transfer though.  Two baptisms and we finally set a date with the Hall family.  Here is a picture of Steve and all of the missionaries who helped teach him .  The ones on the far right are Elder Bowman and Elder Swan, who were the first to teach him, then it was me and Elder Bowman and then, me and Elder Wurst.  The other person is Brother Kirby who we had come to most of the lessons.

Love,

Elder Niceler

Week 18 -- 1st Area -- 2nd Companion -- Hesperia, CA

October 6, 2014

My Dearest Family,

This last week was pretty good.  We had some really good lessons with our recent converts!  They are all doing really good.  Steve, the most recent one, is going to be baptizing one of the Sister Missionaries' investigators this Saturday.  He's super nervous/excited.  Richard is on fire!
He can't stop spreading the gospel!  He is literally converted to this gospel.  Bryan is doing amazing.  This year he and his father tripled theirs sales for their farm (they sell their food at a farmers market).  We asked him what he did differently and he told us that they really didn't do anything different, the only thing different was he started going to church.  The Lord will bless you when you start doing the things He wants you to.  It's crazy.  So, I survived another transfer and I won't be getting transferred and neither is my companion.  Elder Coburn is staying! We needed him!  He's now going to be the only person with real excitement in this zone.  This new transfer is going to be awesome!  I love and miss all of you so much.  Keep up the good work in your areas.  Always be excited to go out and do the Lord's work.  I will end with a quote from President Monson:

"Walking where Jesus walked isn't as important as walking as he walked."

I love this quote!  A couple of talks during General Conference (Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worldwide gather twice yearly, in April and October,  for “General Conference.”  These meetings are comprised of five two-hour meetings held over two days. During the conference, Church leaders speak on a variety of spiritual topics.  Speakers include the worldwide leader of the Church and his counselors in the First Presidency, the governing body of the Church.  Talks are also given by the members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and other leaders. The talks vary in length from about 5 to 20 minutes.  Topics are not assigned; each speaker chooses his or her own subject matter.  Talks usually cover basic gospel principles or address significant issues of the day, with speakers encouraging individuals and families in their efforts to follow Jesus Christ.  After the conference is over, the talks are published on the lds.org website and reprinted in the Church’s Ensign and Liahona magazines so members can read and study them.)  that I really liked were President Eyring's talk he gave in the Sunday Morning Session titled, "Continuing Revelation" in which he said, "Human judgment and logical thinking will not be enough to get answers to the questions that matter most in life.  We need revelation from God."  (You can read or listen to this talk by following this link:  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/print/2014/10/continuing-revelation?lang=eng&clang=eng)  The second talk I really enjoyed was Elder Bednar's talk given during the Sunday Afternoon Session titled, "Come and See."  His talk was specifically directed to those who are not members of our church and was focussed on answering the question, "“Why are Latter-day Saints so eager to tell me about what they believe and to invite me to learn about their church?”  (You can read or listen to this talk by following this link:  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/10/come-and-see?lang=eng)  This was an awesome talk!

Love,

Elder Niceler
