Week 83 -- 5th Area -- 9th Companion -- Spring Valley Lakes, CA

January 18, 2016

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! I can't believe that I only have three transfers left. My mission is going by way to fast! It's been a blast though, I wouldn't take it back for anything in this world. I've grown to love my Savior so much in these last 20 months.

Well, this last week was a tough week, we did a lot of finding a had not much success. Our miracle of the week, happened Tuesday night while we were walking around. Elder Carver saw that a car had a light left on.  So, we went up and knocked on the house and we let the person know. We were able to spark a conversation and we were able to get a return appointment. It was super awesome. The Lord blesses those that put their trust in Him. The appointment fell through because the guy was sick. We have plans though to continue following up with him. Other than that it was pretty normal week, we knocked a lot of doors, tried a bunch of potentials, and former investigators. None of them were interested or they weren't home. That's the struggle of our area, no one is ever home, and once it gets dark, which it gets dark at like 5:30 here, everyone goes to bed!  So, we're in the process of building up our teaching pool which is a super slow process.

I love all of you so much and hope that this week goes great for you.

Love,

Elder Peter H. Niceler

Week 82 -- 5th Area -- 9th Companion -- Spring Valley Lakes, CA

January 11, 2016

Well, transfers have happened and I'm staying and Elder McLaws is gone. It's kinda weird not having him anymore. I'm now District Leader again and my new companion is Elder Carver. He's super cool. I've served around him before. I'll have more information on him next week.

This last week was a super good week, we just did a ton of finding and we saw a ton of success. We should have a good amount of people to be teaching by the end of this week.  The area is doing a lot better and it's slowly progressing to where it needs to be and where I'd like for it to be.

That pretty much sums up the week.  So, I hope and pray that things continue to go well.  I love all of you so very much.

Love,

Elder Peter H. Niceler

Week 81 -- 5th Area -- 8th Companion -- Spring Valley Lakes, CA

January 4, 2016

Well, this last week was a bit of a rough one for me.  Elder McLaws really struggled and it just overwhelmed me and I got to a point that on Friday he was doing something and I just flipped out and said one thing and that just put the cherry on top.

It was a typical week for us as far as doing missionary work went.  We just tried a bunch of people and we weren't able to teach any of them.  Most of them were still interested they just asked for sometime to relax and get back to their normal pace of life.  It was just a good week for us.  It was nice being able to come in contact with all of those people. The Lord truly does bless you for the hard work that you put in.

We went over to our Ward Mission Leader's house last night to get some advice on how to strengthen our relationship and companionship.  He gave us some really good advice that I think will help all of you out a lot.  He turned us to D&C 4. (Below is a copy of the chapter & a link you can follow)

Doctrine & Covenants Section 4
Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.
Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.
 Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work;
 For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul;
And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work.
Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence.
Ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Amen.

He told us that if we can get what this section teaches down that things would go really good for us.  He told us that he looks at this section as a covenant.  And after reading it and talking about it it truly does seem like it's a covenant. The Lord in this section sets the terms, we agree to live it, and then, he promises a blessing. The really cool thing that Brother Stewart showed us was that in verse 2 you can replace the word him with anyone (For example: see that you serve your children, Eli, a friend, really anyone that could use service).  It's so true, we need to have the mindset and always be thinking "If the Savior stood beside me would I be doing what I'm doing, saying, etc. right now?"  That mindset changes everything. The last piece of advice that he gave was that we should forgive each other. And for all of you, you should forgive those that have done something to you. He told us that when you forgive someone you need to DROP IT!!!  It's so true, we so often tend to say that we forgave them; when in reality we haven't.  When the Savior forgives us he completely forgets about it and never talks about it with us again. We need to be like the Savior in that way.  The Savior is constantly forgiving people, and a lot of the things are big sins or mistakes. We most likely will never have to forgive those around us for serious mistakes, we are just constantly forgiving others for small things.
Here are some quotes:
"With faith in Jesus Christ the hardest and easiest of times can be a blessing."  Henry B. Eyring
"His love is unfailing, I so testify."  Henry B. Eyring

"Acting on even a twig of faith allows God to grow it."  Henry B. Eyring

Just watch the Mormon Message "Mountain to Climb."  It has all of the quotes that I want to put down. Here is a link to the video:

Week 80 -- 5th Area -- 8th Companion -- Spring Valley Lakes, CA

December 28, 2015

Christmas Week!!!!!

It was super awesome being able to see all of you!! I'm super sorry that I didn't say much I just absolutely had no idea what to say. Thank you so much for all of the gifts and treats that you sent me.

It was a good week of doing missionary work.  We were able to get in contact with some people that we hadn't been able to see in awhile. The best part was spending Christmas Eve with our Ward Mission Leader and going out and caroling. Now, of course, this doesn't beat being able to see my family.

That pretty much sums up the week, once again it was great being able to see you guys.  I have a bunch of pictures to send you guys.  I just forgot my camera so you'll be getting them next week.

Love,

Elder Peter H. Niceler
